Confined Space Gas-Free Overview: During the Confined Space Gas-Free training session, your duties conducting atmospheric testing are outlined as well as the possible hazards that can occur in a confined space. Shipyard competent person is a required certification under OSHA to be able to perform specific functions. A Shipyard competent person is the only person that can perform confined space testing other than a marine chemist or Certified Industrial Hygienist certified person. This course covers all the necessary information as required by OSHA regulations. Only the Employer’s Company can designate an employee as a Shipyard “Competent” person. Safety Management Systems provides the following training in order for the employer to meet that goal.
