  • Fire - Incipient (8hr) 
     
    Overview: The Fire - Incipient (8hr) course will familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage firefighting.

    Course Length: 8hrs | CFR Reference: 29 CFR 1910.155, 156, 157 | Course Required By: OSHA

    Course Objectives: Upon completion of Fire - Incipient (8hr) training, the student will be familiar with:
    • Chemistry of fire
    • The fire triangle and tetrahedron
    • Spread of fire
    • Hazardous products of combustion
    • Classification of fires
    • Demonstrate immediate actions to be taken upon encountering a fire
    • Use an all-purpose nozzle for protection and extinguishing fires
    • Use the appropriate portable fire extinguisher to extinguish a fire 
    • Advancement of  fire hoses with the team leader giving commands
    • Extinguishing agents and their use
    Written Exam: Written and hands-on competency will be evaluated at the end of each course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.

    Retraining: Student is responsible for retraining every year.
