    Overview: The Machine Guarding course familiarizes students with various types of common machinery and the related OSHA safety standards. The course presents an approach to machine inspection that enables participants to recognize hazards, such as those created by points of operation, rotating, reciprocating, and other machine function which may allow an operator to be in danger of pinch points or flying sparks, chips or materials.

    Course Objectives: Upon completion of Machine Guarding training, the student will:
    • Understand and identify various types of machine guarding devices, their limitation, use, and inspection
    • Be able to identify conditions where lock-out/tag-out procedures are necessary and are effective
    • Be able to perform a machine guarding audit in their respective work
    Written Exam: Written and hands-on competency will be evaluated at the end of each course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
