 The high standard of care provided by our Remote Paramedic service is in large part due to the involvement of our Medical Director, Dr. Donald Thibodaux. His background in both emergency and occupational medicine affords SMS the advantage of understanding OSHA incident classifications and their effects on the oil and gas industry. Dr. Thibodaux is an invaluable resource to our field medical personnel and remains on 24-hour call for emergency physician consultations. He takes part in instruction of the Clinical Extension courses and regular training sessions with our team to ensure the highest quality emergency medical response in the Gulf of Mexico. "I take a hands-on approach with medic training and staff meetings because I know how important it is for them to know how to handle treatment on their own, and to be able to communicate with their medical director."A 1976 graduate of Nicholls State University with a B.S. in Chemistry, Dr. Thibodaux then attended medical school at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and graduated in 1979. After completing his Emergency Medicine residency in 1982 from Charity Hospital at New Orleans, he spent 20 years practicing hospital-based Emergency Medicine in Houma, Louisiana. |
