    Overview: The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) course is a basic awareness orientation designed for the Marine Industry to help reduce accidents, promote positive safety attitudes and protect the environment. These basic policies and procedures can be incorporated into the day-to-day operations on all marine vessels. The material covered when combined with good judgment, common sense, and knowledge of the work to be done will promote safe working attitudes in the performance of your job. Please note: This is a specialty class needing 5 or more students.
    Course Length: 2hrs| CFR Reference: General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1) OSH Act | Course Required By: Offshore Oil & Gas Industry

    Course Objectives: Upon completion of Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) training, the student will be familiar with:
    • Definitions concerning the right to access medical records
    • General explanation of the purpose for the release of the medical information
    • How to request a copy of medical and exposure records
    • Time requirement that the employers must provide medical and exposure records
    • OSHA's right to access medical and exposure records
    • Rights of the employers to protect trade secrets
    Written Exam: SMS requires a minimum score of 80%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
