Danielle Landry

We chatted with Danielle about what a day in her life at work looks like.

A.A. Describe a typical day at work.

D.L. I work at night, so I work from home. Usually, test results come in around 7 or 8 pm. Then, when the results come in, I go through them, putting the results into spreadsheets. I call the people whose test results came back as abnormal. Then, I call and email the result reports to the company’s logistic team. Depending on the night, it depends on how many test results I have to go through.

A.A. What was the best vacation you have ever taken?

D.L. The best vacation that I have taken so far would have to be when I went with some friends to Hot Springs, Arkansas. My favorite part of the trip is when we went “mining” for crystals in the mountains.

A.A. Describe yourself in one sentence.

D.L. I put my all in everything that I do, and I am always up to learn new things.

A.A. What is your favorite thing about your job?

D.L. My coworkers. I feel that everyone I work with is always ready to lend and hand to anyone.

A.A. What food could you live on for a month?

D.L. Chicken and dumplings

A.A. Do you have a side hustle, hobby, or volunteer group that you’re involved in outside of work? What else do you spend your time doing?

D.L. I am currently working on getting my lactation consultant certification.

A.A. How do you stay motivated at work?

D.L. My fiancé is one of the key reasons to stay motivated, especially when I have a long night.

A.A. What has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?

D.L. The most fulfilling moment would have to be this SMS recognition nomination.

A.A. Who would play you in a movie?

D.L. (I had to ask my family for help with this question) Probably Jennifer Lawrence because she can be clumsy.

A.A. Tell us about a moment that changed your life.

D.L. A moment that changed my life would have to be when I met my fiancé back in 2017. I just moved back home from Texas. I was not doing well in college, and my anxiety was overwhelming. I felt like I was spiraling, but then I met my fiancé, and he was the light at the end of the tunnel.

A.A. What would be your advice for future [safety professionals]?

D.L. When in doubt, ask questions.

A.A. What is your favorite activity outside of work?

D.L. My favorite activity outside of work would have to be either crocheting, reading, or sleeping.

A.A. Name one book that inspired you professionally.

D.L. Adulting 101 #wisdom4life by Josh Burnette & Pete Hardesty

A.A. Which talent or superpower would you most like to have and why?

D.L. The talent I would like to have is singing. I love music, and I like to sing along to whatever I am listening to, but I am not too good. I am sort of tone-deaf.

A.A. What was the best advice you were ever given?

D.L. You can’t help others if you are negating yourself.

A.A. Do you have a bucket list? What are the top 3 things on it?

D.L. I kind of have a bucket list.

  1. I would like to go to New York & see Hamilton on Broadway.
  2. I would like to swim with the moon jellyfish in New Zealand or the Philippines
  3. I would like to see real snow, not the kind of “snow”/sleet stuff we get down here in Louisiana.

A.A.Do you have any pets? What are their names?

D.L. My fiancé & I have a chocolate lab named Duchess; she is 3 1/2 years old. We also have three farm cats that hang around our house that I have gotten attached to. I call the mama cat mama; then there is snowball and missy.

A.A. A penguin walks through the door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say, and why is he here?

D.L. The water down here is not cold enough, and he is here because he is running away from an alligator that tried to eat him.
