CFR Reference: Any applicant who has successfully completed this 40hr Combined Basic and Advanced Firefighting course will satisfy:
- the Basic Safety Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training requirements of Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 10.205(1)(2);
- the Advanced firefighting training requirements of Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code;
- the Basic and Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205(g) and 10.401(g)(1) for license;
- the Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 13.113(d)(2)(1)(A), 13.113(e)(1)(i)(A) or (B), 13.20(e), 13.301(e), 13,401(e) or 13.501(e) for any tankerman endorsement
Written Exam: A minimum written test score of 70% is required. Students that fail the test will undergo remediation and be allowed 1 retest. A second failure requires repeating the course before they may test again. Students must satisfactorily perform hands-on evolutions as required by U.S. Coast Guard assessments.
Retraining: Student is responsible for retraining every five years.
Location: Only offered at our Lafayette location.
Prerequisites: These courses are intended as basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship as part of the ship’s complement with designated safety duties in operation of the ship. There are no particular educational requirements. All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.
