Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations

Overview

Employees who work in the UK will be familiarized with the required local regulations for lifting operations. These regulations are also followed by many others who work abroad in areas of the world where lifting operations are not regulated. Employees will be thoroughly informed on the 11 regulations versed toward the end user from the history of the legislation all the way to effectively planning lifting operations.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course the student will be familiar with:

  • The Citation & Commencement of LOLER
  • Terminology Interpretation
  • Strength & Stability for lifting appliances and lifting accessories
  • Required guidelines for man-riding equipment
  • Key knowledge in the positioning and installation of lifting equipment
  • Necessary information which all lifting equipment should be marked with
  • Ability to thoroughly plan and risk assess both routine and complex lifting operations
  • Requirements for thoroughly examining lifting equipment
  • Proper process for reporting defective lifting equipment
  • Necessary time periods for maintaining records for thorough examinations
  • Review of amendments and revocations of previous legislation

Written Exam: Minimum score of 80% required. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.

Retraining: Every 4 years
