COVID-19 Contact Tracing Services
SMS has a team of trained contact tracers that respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our team has taken the COVID-19 Contact Tracing course by Emily Gurley, Ph.D., MPH, from John Hopkins University.
When alerted to a confirmed infection, our contact tracers will contact the individual and perform a tracing interview. The interview will identify the onset of symptoms and determine the timeline of infection spread following CDC guidelines. Once an established timeline happens, our trained contact tracers will go through a detailed history of the days indicated with the COVID-19 positive and identify any individuals that meet exposure criteria.
The individuals that meet exposure criteria are contacted without disclosing any protected information and alerted that they were exposed to the COVID-19 virus. We will then perform a contact tracing interview to confirm the exposure and identify any other potential exposures. Due to the highly contagious nature of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, better known as COVID-19, these interviews can identify those exposed to the virus and, in conjunction with the CDC COVID-19 exposure quarantine guidelines, help slow and contain the viruses spread. This method allows employers to more accurately manage their workforce while minimizing the effect of a COVID-19 infection on their employees.
