As president of Safety Management Systems, a purpose-driven company dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of oil & gas workers, Scott has overall responsibility for the company. In 1996, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from LSU while also playing for the Fighting Tiger football team. Scott got an early start with Acadian, and in the last 22 years has held positions with the ambulance and security divisions. He would eventually transition to SMS as a general manager and then vice president before being named president in 2010. Over the years, Scott has served in many philanthropic roles, including as Chair for the United Way of Acadiana’s 2016 Capital Campaign. He is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette and Leadership Louisiana, and was chosen by The Daily Advertiser as one of the “Top 20 Under 40.” He also serves on the board of directors for the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition and the Petroleum Club of Lafayette, and is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization.
Courtney Juneau, vice president of operations, started his career at Acadian in 2006. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations for Safety Management Systems, including remote paramedics, safety technicians, training and HSE consultants. In 2001, he joined Safety Management Systems as the HSE consulting manager responsible for quality control, marketing and all HSE consulting operations. Courtney graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in applied life sciences. He is involved in many aspects of his community as a committee member for both United Way and the American Cancer Society, a sponsor for the Sky’s the Limit Foundation, and a member of St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.
Eddy Dupuis, vice president of finance, joined Acadian in 2007. He provides financial oversight to Safety Management Systems and its sister divisions, Air Med and Executive Air Charter Services. Eddy graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Allan Weatherford is a degreed environmentalist, with permitting and extensive inspection experience in both agency and industry roles. Allan brings with him more than 23 years of industry experience and expertise. Past experience includes serving in key management roles with major gas companies as Environmentalist, Operations Director, and Technical Services Director prior to him opening the doors at Liberty in 2004. Additional credentials include certifications as a Registered Environmental Manager (REM) and Certified Environmental Property Assessor (CEPA) and BA and MBA degrees from Rollins College and Nova Southeastern University, respectively.
Todd LaPorte is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and managing staff for SMS' safety and medical interests in the Gulf of Mexico. Todd began his career at Acadian in 1985 as an ambulance medic. He earned his paramedic certification before transferring to the Communications Center, where he served as a dispatcher, operations supervisor and operations manager. He managed Acadian's Medic Support Center and served as director of Acadian Monitoring Services' administration and retail service lines. Todd has been involved with United Way of Acadiana's Loaned Executive Program and served the Sisters of Mt. Carmel as president of the Mt. Carmel Elementary Board of Directors.
As Key Account Manager, Brett Fontenot manages customer relationships by understanding the needs of each client and ensuring satisfaction with the services provided. Brett also works closely with new clients to better understand their needs and projected work. An employee of SMS for more than eight years, Brett earned two associate degrees, one in general studies and one in occupation health and safety. Brett is a board certified occupational health and safety technologist and a nationally registered EMT.
Joe F. Moseley, III
Joe Moseley, based in Houston, oversees daily operations for the SMS' Southwest region, including Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale. Joe began his career in the oil & gas industry with AIS in 2004 as a safety specialist for Chevron. In 2008, he began working on land drilling for Shell in south Texas then moved to north Louisiana to work for Shell as a lead technician and on new rig start ups. He became field support supervisor in north Louisiana, overseeing daily operations and mentoring new safety specialists. Joe is currently working towards his Occupational Health and Safety Technologist certification.
Ryan Hester, CSP, CAC
Ryan Hester is responsible for overseeing all safety and industrial hygiene services for the west coast region. He has more than 10 years of experience in occupational safety and health, with an emphasis on industrial hygiene. Ryan has provided services across many industries including oil and gas, public utilities, construction, manufacturing and aerospace. He is passionate about providing excellent service to our clients by working closely with them, listening to and understanding their goals and objectives and tailoring our services to achieve those goals and objectives. Ryan has a degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University in La Mirada, CA, where he graduated with honors. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), certified by the California Department of Public Health as a Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor & Project Monitor, and he is a California Division of Occupational Safety and Health Certified Asbestos Consultant. Ryan is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene at Montana Tech.
Dr. Donald Thibodaux
The high standard of care provided by our remote paramedic service is in large part due to the involvement of our Medical Director Dr. Donald Thibodaux. His background in emergency and occupational medicine gives SMS the advantage of understanding OSHA incident classifications and their effects on the oil & gas industry. He is on 24-hour call for emergency physician consultations, and helps teach clinical extension courses and training sessions with our team to ensure the highest quality emergency medical response in the Gulf of Mexico. A graduate of Nicholls State University, Dr. Thibodaux received his bachelor's degree in chemistry then attended medical school at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. After completing his emergency medicine residency at Charity Hospital at New Orleans, he spent 20 years practicing hospital-based emergency medicine in Houma, Louisiana. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 1986.
Mark Trahan has been with Acadian for more than 20 years. He currently oversees all site administrations, the security division and is in charge of all training throughout the company. Beginning his career as an EMT, Mark then received his paramedic license and in 2000 was part of the team that began the National EMS Academy, where EMS professionals are trained for the workforce. Mark served as educational coordinator for the offshore division and also has worked as SMS training manager, operations manager and business development manager.
As the training manager, Marc Pretorius provides operational oversight of SMS' training department, with an emphasis on MEM training. Marc has 11 years of experience within the global upstream oil and gas market, advancing through various training services divisions, building business partnerships and leading international teams through training to enhance company offerings. He helped create a training partnership between the offshore industry and NASA's Johnson Space Center, and he has worked on various projects to design, build and operate training facilities in Scotland, Germany, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. Marc earned the OPITO Training Provider of the Year award in 2012 for his efforts in developing and enhancing industry training standards in Texas and Louisiana. He attended the College of Technical Studies in Klerksdorp, South Africa, with a focus on mineral engineering.
Russell Cryer, executive sales representative, has been an SMS employee for more than three years. An oilfield sales veteran, Russell is responsible for new business development for SMS across the United States. Russell earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1989.
Paul Hamilton is a member of the executive sales team for SMS and has worked for Acadian since 1993. He began his career with Acadian as a paramedic and dispatcher, where he served for 12 years. An SMS employee for the past nine years, Paul calls on industry HSE professionals to promote health, safety, environmental, medical, training, H2S, and security services. He is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with an associate degree in emergency health science. Paul is a member of the Teurlings Knights of Columbus Council 3202 and has worked with a number of charities supported by Acadian, including The United Way, Boy Scouts of America, and The Bishop's Charity Gala.
Steven Friedman, director of finance, is responsible for the financial and accounting activities of Safety Management Systems. Steven, who has worked for SMS since 2011, graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and received his master’s degree from the University of Tampa. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and a dedicated member of many organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Knights of Columbus.
Sheila Hebert has been with Acadian for more than 30 years. Sheila has worked in many departments within Acadian such as Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, medical records, collections and customer service and was an integral part of the MSC program. Sheila moved to SMS in 2002 and currently serves as a manager in the SMS business office. An active member of the community, Sheila is involved with The United Way, church activities, fundraiser walks, and local hospitals.
Krista Hebert directs and coordinates HR policies and programs with an emphasis on employee relations, benefits, recruitment, and reporting. She ensures the organization is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and works closely with the vice president of human resources on the development, implementation and evaluation of HR policies, programs, and activities. Krista has been with Acadian since 2004 and holds a bachelor's of science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is member of the National Society for Human Resources and former treasurer of the Acadiana Society for Human Resources.
Allyson Duck began her career with Acadian in 2007 as an employee benefits representative and was promoted to her current position in 2012. Allyson is responsible for SMS recruiting, employee relations, policy interpretation and implementation, and compensation administration She also works with the leadership team on coaching and counseling employees. On the corporate side, she oversees compliance regarding affirmative action, compliance audits and I-9s. Allyson completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her master's at Nova Southeastern University. She holds a Professional in Human Resources certification and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
