  • Hand and Power Tool Safety

    Overview: The Hand and Power Tool Safety course is important since hand and power tools are a common part of our everyday lives and are present in nearly every industry. Simple tools can be hazardous and have the potential for causing severe injuries. This course is designed to cover the general hazards and safety precautions associated with hand and power tools.

    Course Length: 2hrs | CFR Reference: 29 CFR 1910 Subpart P, 1915 Subpart H, and 1926.305 | Course Required By: OSHA

    Course Objectives:Upon completion of Hand and Power Tool Safety training, the student will be able to identify hazards associated with the use of hand and power tools to include the following:
    • Identify general safety procedures
    • Identify different types of power tools
    • Identify hazards associated with hand and power tools
    • Explain safety tips that should be utilized when using hand and power tools
    • Describe general safety practices to be used when setting up a work area, selection of personal protective equipment, and utilizing tools at the worksite
    • Identify hazards and precautions taken when using electric, pneumatic, powder, and fuel powered tools
    • Identify hazards and precautions taken when working with jacks and abrasive wheels
    • Explain features of machine guarding
    Written Exam: None required

    Regulatory Requirement: As required

    Retraining: Annually
