Chevron Anchor FPU is stationed in the Gulf of Mexico after a 375-mile journey in 2023.
SMS Remote Paramedic AJ Passalacqua is aboard this new endeavor, which resides approximately 140 miles off the Louisiana coast. This remarkable project marks a significant step forward in meeting the surging global demand for energy.
Tugboats guided the platform to its designated deployment location in Green Canyon block 87. The project’s first stage encompasses a seven-well subsea development and a semisubmersible floating production unit, both designed to handle pressures of up to 20,000 psi. The capabilities of the Anchor platform are staggering. It boasts a design capacity of 75,000 barrels of crude oil and an impressive 28 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The platform’s significance in the energy sector cannot be overstated.
Described by Chevron as “tall as a 25-story building with an area similar to that of a football field,” the Anchor platform is a testament to the cutting-edge technology and innovation driving the energy industry forward. The platform, expected to produce oil for up to 30 years, signifies a bright future for sustainable and efficient energy production on a massive scale.
