Congratulations to our SMS Standout Kasey Dautreuil. She was recently nominated for customer recognition, excellent performance, living the SMS mission, and quality of work. Kasey is an EMT and is working as a COVID-19 screener in Galliano, Louisiana. She took ownership of the project and streamlined the processes there. She made an impact on the team she works with and created a strong relationship with our client. She is a strong asset and a true team player. Thank you, Kasey, for doing such a great job!

We asked Kasey to tell us about her typical day at work.

A.A. Describe a typical day at work.

K.D. A typical day starts by making sure I have everything I need on myself and my truck to make sure we have a smooth day and we can handle any call that is assigned to us.

 

A.A. What was the best vacation you have ever taken?

K.D. A road trip to Colorado to visit family.

 

A.A. Describe yourself in one sentence.

K.D. Shy and sweet, but also feisty.

 

A.A. What is your favorite thing about your job?

K.D. Being able to travel to other areas within the company to work and meet other employees and learn how they operate in their district.

 

A.A. What food could you live on for a month?

K.D. Chips and queso.

 

A.A. Do you have a side hustle, hobby, or volunteer group that you’re involved in outside of work? What else do you spend your time doing?

K.D. I have a small jewelry business where I make leather and small-batch polymer clay earrings called Southern Craft Studio. My business is on hold right now to help out my company in other areas.

 

A.A. How do you stay motivated at work?

K.D. Knowing that I am here to help the community and they deserve my 100%.

 

A.A. What has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?

K.D. Hearing compliments from patients and family members. 

 

A.A. Who would play you in a movie?

K.D. Jennifer Lawrence.

 

A.A. Tell us about a moment that changed your life.

K.D. When my grandfather passed away when I was 16 years old. Knowing the Acadian medics did everything they possibly could and being compassionate with my grandmother lead me on a path to work for Acadian as I got older.

 

A.A. What would be your advice for future [safety professionals]?

K.D. Learn to understand and appreciate other cultures, and always take care of yourself.

 

A.A. What is your favorite activity outside of work?

K.D. Anything crafty. From jewelry making, wall tapestry and painting.

 

A.A. Name one book that inspired you professionally.

K.D. Better by Atul Gawande.

 

A.A. Which talent or superpower would you most like to have and why?

K.D. Be able to fly to avoid the cost of flights.

 

A.A. What was the best advice you were ever given?

K.D. Invest in your future.

 

A.A. Do you have a bucket list? What are the top 3 things on it?

K.D. Travel, sky diving and scuba diving in Iceland.

 

A.A. Do you have any pets? What are their names?

K.D. A Yorkie named Abby.
