We would like to Congratulate our SMS Standout, Jodie Marietta! Jodie is a Billing Specialist and was nominated by Business Officer Manager, Sheila Hebert for her excellent performance.

Sheila exclaimed, “Jodie supports the west coast with payroll and billing. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she assist them in every way possible.”

Great work, Jodie! Thank you.

We spoke with Jodie to get a glipse of what a day in her life looks like.

AA: Describe a typical day at work.

JM: Every day is similar but different. It depends on when payroll is and what requests I get from customers or the guys in the field. Mostly jumping from task to task. It never gets boring.

AA: What was the best vacation you have ever taken?

JM: I took a trip to England to visit my family.  Everywhere we went was absolutely gorgeous.

AA: Describe yourself in one sentence.

JM: I’m nice, creative, and loyal.

AA: What is your favorite thing about your job?

JM: I really enjoy the interaction with my work family.

AA: What food could you live on for a month?

JM: Anything spicy.

AA: Do you have a side hustle, hobby or volunteer group that you’re involved in outside of work? What else do you spend your time doing?

JM: I spend time volunteering in a bible education work. I also really love a good tea party, hats and all. It’s so much fun!

AA: How do you stay motivated at work?

JM: Keeping a positive attitude always makes me feel motivated no matter what task is ahead of me.

AA: What has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?

JM:  It’s hard to pinpoint a specific moment. In the past when I had to deal with customers that were less than cordial, I was able to get on common ground and develop a good rapport with them. I appreciate those moments.

AA: Who would play you in a movie?

JM: Anne Hathaway

AA: Tell us about a moment that changed your life.

JM:  A little over five years ago the company I previously worked for moved to Denver. Then, I came here and joined the Acadian Family.

AA: What would be your advice for future [safety professionals]?

JM: When you work for a safety company, no matter your position is, your job is important. Safety first means everything. It protects what we all work for, our loved ones.

AA: What is your favorite activity outside of work?

JM: Bike riding. Just a relaxing ride in the country, especially at sunset.

AA: Name one book that inspired you professionally.

JM: The Good Book. You can’t beat the Golden Rule.; treat others the way you want to be treated.

AA: Which talent or superpower would you most like to have and why?

JM: To be super fast, like Flash. To get so much more work done and have more time for fun.

AA: What was the best advice you were ever given?

JM:  Always do your best and be true to yourself. This sounds cliche but there is so much truth in these words.

AA: Do you have a bucket list? What are the top 3 things on it?

JM: No bucket list. I should put it on my “to do” list.

AA: Do you have any pets? What are their names?

JM:  I have four cats that live at my house, but they are really for my niece and nephews.

  1. King, short for Steven King.
  2. Pusheen
  3. King Jr.
  4. Ashes

AA: A penguin walks through the door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

JM: “It’s hot here in Louisiana. I had to borrow this sombrero to try to stay cool.”

He just stopped in to say hi, before he is off to the Walking of the Penguins. This is an event that SMS can support. There are never any injuries at that event. Unlike some other events aka Running of the Bulls.
