Remote Paramedic Javier Estrada was nominated as an SMS Standout by Field Support Supervisor Scott Henry for excellent performance and living the SMS mission. Over the past year, Javier has been exceptional in helping SMS cover many different jobs. He has moved from client to client with a great attitude and many times last minute notice.

We wanted to know how Javier accomplishes this, so we took a peek into a day in his life to give you an idea of how SMS employees are living the core values every day. Javier stays positive, remains grateful and enjoys traveling with his wife.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AC: How do you get pumped for the day?

JE: I love what I do.  I wake up every morning with the desire to help in any way possible.

 

AC: What was the best vacation you have ever taken?

JE: Visiting San Francisco 10 years ago.  It was the last time the extended family got together for a family reunion.  I enjoy family time.

 

AC: Describe yourself in one sentence.

JE: I love new challenges and am always looking for the positive side of things.

 

AC: How do you stay motivated at work?

JE: Knowing that every day is different keeps me motivated.

 

AC: Who would play you in a movie?

JE: Robin Williams

 

AC: Tell us about a moment that changed your life.

JE: I saved an 18-months-old baby’s life, early in my career.

 

AC: Name one book that inspired you professionally.

JE: I love Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AC: What’s the best advice you were ever given?

JE: Enjoy what you do to the fullest, never take shortcuts and give above what is expected from you.

 

AC: What is your favorite activity outside of work?

JE: I love traveling with my wife.

 

AC: What would your advice be to future safety professionals?
