Sheree walked us through what a day in her life looks like.

AA: Describe a typical day at work.

SM: Emails, phone calls, coffee, more emails, planning, executing, emails again, meeting deadlines and repeat.

AA: What was the best vacation you have ever taken?

SM: Pensacola with my family every summer.  You can’t beat the view for just a few hours in the car!

AA: Describe yourself in one sentence.

SM: I am neither especially clever nor especially gifted. I am only very, very curious. -A. Einstein

AA: What is your favorite thing about your job?

SM: The chair spins. Just kidding! My favorite thing about my job is the quick pace and the people. I work with really great people.

AA: What food could you live on for a month?

SM: Landry pizza plus mushrooms from Pizza Village.

AA: Do you have a side hustle, hobby or volunteer group that you’re involved in outside of work? What else do you spend your time doing?

SM: I have two teenage sons and three rescue dogs that take up a lot of time and eat a lot of food. I enjoy couponing and clearance hunting. I also like planning parties and events. When life affords us a little break, we like to head up to our camp in Toledo Bend to disconnect from the world and just enjoy nature for a bit.

AA: How do you stay motivated at work?

SM: Deadlines and appreciative management.

AA: What has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?

SM: There have been so many! It’s all of the little “thank-you’s” and “I appreciate you going out of your way” comments that I’ve received along the way.

AA: Who would play you in a movie?

SM: Rebel Wilson

AA: Tell us about a moment that changed your life.

SM:  My mom dying (along with thousands of others) from the side effects of her opioid addiction definitely changed my life. Now, I am way more inquisitive of healthcare advice and recommendations for myself and my family.

AA: What would be your advice for future [safety professionals]?

SM: Come work at SMS/Liberty! We have ESOP and it’s a super safe way to save for your future.

AA: What is your favorite activity outside of work?

SM: Trying new restaurants while pretending to be a food critic. I also enjoy shopping and attending concerts.

AA: Name one book that inspired you professionally.

SM: The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

AA: Which talent or superpower would you most like to have and why?

SM: Eat what I want and not gain weight. I love food, and cupcakes make me happy but my jeans, not so much.

AA: What was the best advice you were ever given?

SM:  You can’t control what happens in life, but you can control how you react to it.

Also, jealousy is a complete waste of time. If someone has something that I want, I will absolutely become their best friend and learn from them and figure out how to get myself on that level.

AA: Do you have a bucket list? What are the top 3 things on it?

SM:  I don’t have a bucket list per se, I try to work on things in different seasons of life. Right now, it’s about diet and health and overall wellness.

AA: Do you have any pets? What are their names?

SM:  A terrier named Lucy, a boxer named Eloise and a pitbull named Millie.

AA: A penguin walks through the door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

SM: Throw me somethin’, sista! (He’s in town for Mardi Gras, duh.)
