Operations Coordinator Christal Real was recently nominated by Division Manager Allan Weatherford for excellent performance, quality of work and living the SMS Mission.
Allan says, “The company recently received over $150,000 in payments on invoices that had been delayed by clients for a variety of reasons. Christy tediously and painstakingly unraveled client systems and approvals to finally get the payments released. Despite huge challenges and setbacks for over a year, Christy Owned It Everyday by making it her personal mission to collect these payments.” We sat down with Christy to see what a day in her life as an Operations Coordinator is like.
AC: Describe a typical day at work.
CR: My typical workday consists of 80% of reviewing and replying to emails. Much of the rest of my time is working directly with co-workers on tasks to help improve our workflow.
AC: How do you get pumped up for the day?
CR: Coffee and the news.
AC: What was the best vacation you have ever taken?
CR: Colorado for five days with no itinerary.
AC: Describe yourself in one sentence.
CR: I am reliable, responsible and thorough.
AC: What is your favorite thing about your job?
CR: Advancing and learning new things.
AC: What food could you live on for a month?
CR: Tacos
AC: How do you stay motivated at work?
CR: With the help of my outstanding office co-workers, of course.
AC: What has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?
CR: Collecting money that was over a year past due. I know it helps not only the company, but the account managers as well.
AC: Who would play you in a movie?
CR: My fiancé and kids call me Snow White because I love the outdoors and animals, so I will have to go with Snow White.
AC: Tell us about a moment that changed your life.
CR: I have two. The birth of my kids, and meeting my fiance who I will marry in July 2019.
AC: What would be your advice for future [safety professionals]?
CR: It requires a team to be in this profession, so definitely to be a team player.
AC: What is your favorite activity outside of work?
CR: Fishing
AC: Name one book that inspired you professionally.
CR: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
AC: Which talent or superpower would you most like to have and why?
CR: Reading minds…I feel like I know what people are going to say before they say it.
AC: What was the best advice you were ever given?
CR: Forgive and let it go.
AC: Do you have a bucket list? What are the top 3 things on it?
CR: To go to Ireland, to own a beach house and a boat.

CR: “Ole!” He is here to take me back to Mexico with him.
