Safety Consultant Raymond Drasher was recently nominated for an SMS standout by Regional Manager Ryan Hester for customer recognition. Ryan received the following recognition from Michael Parreira, Senior Safety Engineer & SMS Task Order Manager at the Department of Water Resources.

“I wanted to address and recognize the performance of Mr. Scott Drasher.  As you know Scott is the SMS safety representative overseeing the Thermalito rebuild project.  This is a very unique and multi layered project, that includes various contractors, government employees, regulators and at times, the public/media.  During Scott’s term as the safety oversight of this project, he has proven to not only be an integral part of the day-to-day activities and the forward planning, but a resource for the workforce and our project management.

Scott’s representation of SMS demonstrates how a world class organization should operate.  He has become a bridge between the project management, the contractors and the workforce. With consistent open communication and accurate assessments of unique project challenges, that include multi-layered solutions, Scott has given our team the insight and recommendations that keep the Thermalito project on task and above all safe!

Ryan, thank you and the SMS management team for providing Mr. Scott Drasher as the safety oversight and support of our project, he has far surpassed our expectations.” Congratulations Scott for such great customer feedback!

Describe a typical day at work.
A typical day starts with a coordination meeting among the contractors to ensure there are no conflicting simultaneous operations that could pose a safety concern. The rest of the day, I get to assess the conditions at the plant to ensure no foreseeable hazards are being created. I also get to walk about the plant and talk with the good people here who I’ve developed friendships with. It’s mostly light conversations about our lives outside of work, however I do get the opportunity to answer lots of questions pertaining to the work.
