Willingham was presented with his award by SMS President Scott Domingue.At Acadian’s annual company meeting on May 18, 2017, QHSE Coordinator Jason Willingham was recognized as the 2017 Safety Management Systems (SMS) Employee of the Year. SMS, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, is a global provider of safety, medical, rescue, training, industrial hygiene and security services to the energy industry.

Willingham was presented with his award by SMS President Scott Domingue.

A native of Belair Cove, Louisiana, Willingham has been with Acadian for 21 years. After graduating from Beau Chene High School, Willingham went on to study paramedicine and health care sciences at LSUE, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and South Louisiana Community College. He worked for Acadian Ambulance as an EMT before becoming an adjunct faculty member at the National EMS Academy. He then moved to SMS, starting first as an education coordinator and working his way up to Quality Auditor and then to Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Coordinator.

As the QHSE Coordinator, Willingham assists SMS’ internal Quality Management System (QMS), including audit planning, execution, follow-up and re-audit of current remote paramedic staff. He functions as the clinical excellence liaison between remote paramedics, clinical protocols and medical directors. Willingham spends the majority of his time performing remote paramedic quality audits at remote locations in the Gulf of Mexico and land-based locations. He also teaches EMS courses at the SMS Training Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana, and at off-site locations, at the request of clients.

Jason juggles many responsibilities, and he does a phenomenal job treating each of those tasks as if they are the most important.”
