Safety Management Systems (SMS) has expanded its Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO) training course selection to include Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (T-HUET).

The program is designed for personnel traveling to offshore installations and vessels via helicopter in a warm water tropical environment, and provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge in emergency response related to helicopter evacuation and escape from a ditched or capsized helicopter using personal safety equipment.

“Experienced trainers and a state-of-the-art Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS) ensure that all trainees will get a first-class experience at our training center,” said Chris Broussard, training academy supervisor. “We want to make certain they are fully prepared for any emergency scenario.”

Classes begin April 8, and are $365 per person. For more information and to sign-up for training, call (800) 252-5522, or email SMS at training@safetyms.com, or visit SMS at safetyms.com/training.

OPITO is an industry-owned organization that sets standards for international oil & gas training. In addition to the T-HUET course, SMS offers three other OPITO-approved courses at its Lafayette, La., training academy: Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET), Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), and Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET).
