Safety Management Systems Industrial Hygiene (IH) Consultant David Beadle recently earned the designation of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Additionally, he is designated as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

“Holding both the designations of Certified Safety Professional and Certified Industrial Hygienist is extremely impressive and uncommon. David has truly gone above and beyond. I am proud of his commitment to achieving both of these certifications, in addition to his stellar work in our California operations,” said Safety Management Systems President Scott Domingue.

CSPs perform at least 50 percent of professional-level safety duties, including making worksite assessments to determine risks, assessing potential hazards and controls, evaluating risks and hazard control measures, investigating incidents, maintaining and evaluating incident and loss records and preparing emergency response plans.

The CSP program is internationally accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

A CIH has met the minimum requirements for education and experience and has demonstrated a minimum level of knowledge and skills in air sampling and instrumentation, analytical chemistry, basic science, biohazards, biostatistics and epidemiology, community exposure, engineering controls/ventilation, ergonomics, health risk analysis and hazard communication, IH program management, noise, non-engineering controls, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, thermal stressors, toxicology, and work environments and industrial processes.

“As a firm believer in lifelong learning and personal accountability for staying up-to-date and relevant, achieving the CSP designation validates my personal commitments. With both the CSP and CIH accomplishments, I am professionally more versatile for Safety Management Systems, and I can better contribute to the expansion of IH services and our overall capabilities,” said Beadle.
