Safety Management Systems, a division of Acadian, has been named to the prestigious Louisiana State University’s LSU 100 list. The list recognizes and celebrates the 100 fastest growing LSU-owned or LSU-led businesses in the world.  SMS is one of the largest providers of health, safety, medical, and security services for the energy industry.

SMS is led by President Scott Domingue, an LSU graduate who earned his degree in business administration. Domingue began his career at Acadian in 1988, and worked his way through the ranks of various divisions of management. After transitioning to SMS, he worked through all facets of the division as project development supervisor, sales and marketing manager, and vice president before being named president in 2010.

Domingue serves on the board of directors for the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition, and the United Way of Acadiana. He is a graduate of Leadership Louisiana, and was named one of the Daily Advertiser’s Top 20 Under 40.

SMS is also a member of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition, and numerous other associations such as the International Association of Drilling Contractors, the National Safety Council, Safe Gulf, Safe Land USA, and the National Fire Protection Agency.

SMS was not only chosen for Domingue’s affiliation with LSU, but for SMS’ impressive revenue growth of 41% in 2011.

“It is such an honor for SMS to be included on this list, and it is especially exciting that it is from my alma mater,” said Domingue. “It feels incredible to be part of such an esteemed collection of companies.”

The LSU 100 is hosted by the LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute (SEI), which is housed in the E. J. Ourso College of Business. The complete list of 2013 honorees is available at www.lsu100.com.

“Safety Management Systems is a successful Tiger-led business that we are proud to recognize in the 2013 LSU 100,” said Lisa O’Beirne, director of development for SEI . “We look forward to their continued growth and involvement with entrepreneurship programs at LSU.”

SMS will be honored, along with fellow LSU 100 businesses, at an honoree reception and awards luncheon tomorrow.
